Chuggin' Along

With a new hard drive, we're trying to make the best of the situation and look at it as a clean slate. Design choices are underway for The Metamorphosis, though we are pretty set on how we are going to bind the sucker. We have, however, had a hard time finding the title font we had settled on before the great computer debacle. We at NPP are obsessed with fonts, so we don't take those things lightly.

We do have a little other news, too... We have picked the subject (victim?) of our next ebook, which will appear online in September. This one is from poet Bradley Bates, with a title TBA. We are currently working on two vastly different cover mock-ups, one very modern, the other very old school. We will share both when the time is right.

We hope wherever you are spending your summer it's not as hot as it is here (112 yesterday), which, as always, has us dreaming of the great white North.

Picking Up the Pieces

NPP is grieving the loss of all its material in the great hard drive death of 2009.

What this means? Well, for now it means that FictionShot #001 will not be released this summer, and is on hold indefinitely.

The good news? We are shifting all our attention to The Metamorphosis, the three story chapbook from Paula Bomer.

There were years worth of designs done (and not backed up, yes we're stupid), so it feels like the best thing to do is simplify, take it slow, and make Bomer's chapbook absolutely amazing. Like a celebration. As of right now we're still looking at a fall release. Don't worry we'll keep you up to date, and in the loop.

Workin'

We are hard at work on FictionShots #001, our first first print chapbook, as well as our subsequent second print item due this Summer and Fall/Winter respectively. As always, things have moved in liquid ways. There's nothing better than experimenting and letting that lead to new directions, even if it sometimes frustrates us at first. (How vague, we are).

While you're huddled around your computer, cooling yourself with the hard drive's fan, READ THIS, it's a fantastic post at the blog of PANK. We're not doing a lit. journal here at NPP, but every bit of information/advice in the PANK post is something all writers/editors/publishers should take to heart.

Also, thank you to the nearly 200 of you who have read An Important Day in the Joyful Life of Marjorie Wallace! Keep it Going!

One week since our second ebook went live and so far 150 people have checked it out. We are floored and flattered. But what say we keep the goodness going? If you haven't read An Important Day in the Joyful Life of Marjorie Wallace, GO DO IT. Or READ IT AGAIN. TELL YOUR FRIENDS.

Thanks!
